TLR4, also known as TLR-4, is a member of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) family, which plays a fundamental role in pathogen recognition and activation of innate immunity. This first functionally proven example of a paired receptor system in the Siglec family has multiple implications for regulation of host immunity.
