细胞骨架作为真核细胞中的动态蛋白纤维网结构,由微丝(microfilaments, MF)、微管(microtubules, MT)和中间纤维 (intermediate filaments, IF) 构成。微丝确定细胞表面特征,使细胞能够运动和收缩。微管确定膜性细胞器(membrane-enclosed organelle)的位置和作为膜泡运输的导轨。中间纤维使细胞具有张力和抗剪切力。

细胞骨架是细胞生命活动不可缺少的细胞结构,其形成的复杂网络体系对细胞形态的改变和维持、细胞的分裂与分化、细胞内的物质运输、细胞信息传递和基因表达等均具有重大的意义。细胞骨架结构发生异常往往与一些疾病有关。如阿尔茨海默症患者,在脑神经元中发现有大量扭曲变形的微管和大量受损的中间纤维;在恶性转化的细胞中,常表现为微管减少和解聚,细胞骨架异常可增强癌细胞的运动能力。
