[ 大咖简介 ] Prof. Dr Katharina Hieke-Kubatzky (born in 1973) heads a working group at the Department of Infectious Diseases, Medical Microbiology and Hygiene unit at Heidelberg University Hospital. After graduating in chemistry at the University of Freiburg she did her doctoral work at the Max Planck Institute of Immunology and obtained her doctorate in 2001 from the Freiburg faculty of chemistry and pharmacy. She worked from 2002 to 2004 at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in Brussels. Since 2005 she has headed an independent research group, first at the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology of the University of Freiburg and since 2007, at Heidelberg University. In 2008 followed a research year at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) as a scholarship-holder of the Max Kade Foundation. In 2012 she was granted the venia legendi (habilitation) in molecular medicine. In May 2018 she obtained a position as associate professor. Her habilitation was supported by the Olympia Morata programme of Heidelberg University; furthermore, she obtained the Baden-Württemberg certificate for didactics in higher education.The scientific focus of her research is the effect of bacterial protein toxins on the immune system. She was the project leader in the DFG's priority programme SPP1468 IMMUNOBONE, which is concerned with the interaction between bone cells and the immune system, and is vice-president of the advisory board of the German Signal Transduction Society. She has been a member of the Heidelberg University Council since 2015.
