Nafiverine is a new antispasmodic. The effectiveness of an intramuscular administration of nafiverine was comparable to that of an intravenous administration.
Dimethyldioctadecylammonium (DDA) is a cationic amphipathic lipid. DDA liposomes containing an Ag85B-ESAT-6 antigen induce antigen deposition at an intramuscular or subcutaneous injection site in mice, increasing immune cell exposure to the antigen. In a guinea pig model of M. tuberculosis infection, spleen bacterial load is reduced and lung and spleen lesion numbers are decreased when the mycobacterial lipid antigens Ac2SGL and PIM2 are administered in liposomes comprised of DDA and a synthetic analog of the mycobacterial cord factor trehalose 6,6-dibehenate (TDB). DDA has also been used in the study of lipid bilayer dynamics.
9-deoxy-9-methylene-16,16-dimethyl Prostaglandin E2 (Meteneprost) is a potent analog of prostaglandin E2 with an extended half-life in vivo. In combination with various other prostaglandin derivatives, it results in the termination of first trimester pregnancy in monkeys. A single intramuscular injection containing 0.5 mg of meteneprost and 7.5 mg of 17-phenyl trinor PGF1α is very effective in terminating early pregnancy. This prostaglandin mixture is ineffective on monkeys in their third trimester of pregnancy. Meteneprost, when compared to PGE2 and PGF1α, in monkey and rat, does not result in unwanted side effects such as fever or gastrointestinal problems.
11-Hexadecenoic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid, comprises both 11-cis-hexadecenoic acid and 11-trans-hexadecenoic acid. These isoforms are present in ewe milk fat and their concentrations increase when the diet is supplemented with lipids from linseed, sunflower, olive, or fish oils. Additionally, 11-trans-hexadecenoic acid is found in intramuscular fat of both male and female foals. The product is a blend of the 11-cis and 11-trans forms. [Matreya, LLC. Catalog No. 1208]
