Bombesin is a 14-amino acid peptide originally isolated from the skin of the European fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina). It has two known homologs in mammals called neuromedin B and gastrin-releasing peptide.
Bombesin receptor antagonist that inhibits bombesin binding to rat brain with an IC50 value of 2 μM. Inhibits amylase release in vitro (IC50 = 4 μM) and attenuates bombesin-mediated suppression of food intake in vivo.
Broad spectrum neuropeptide inverse agonist and antagonist. Potent full inverse agonist for the ghrelin receptor (EC50 = 5.2 nM); diminishes constitutive ghrelin receptor signaling. Also antagonist at tachykinin, bradykinin, CCK and bombesin receptors. In
Potent bombesin receptor agonist (IC50 values are 0.26, 1.55 and 2.52 nM for BB1, BB2 and BB3 respectively). Enhances glucose transport in obese and diabetic primary myocytes. Also stimulates NCI-H1299 lung cancer cell proliferation in vitro.
Brain-derived acidic fibroblast growth factor (102-111) is a peptide fragment of brain-derived acidic fibroblast growth factor (aFGF). aFGF is an angiogenic vascular endothelial cell mitogen produced in bovine brain that has sequence homology to interleukin-1. It also shares sequence homology with the known neuropeptides neuromedin C , bombesin , neuromedin K , substance K , substance P , physalaemin, and eledoisin. aFGF (102-111) corresponds to amino acid residues 102-111 of the fulllength peptide.
Mammalian bombesin-like peptide neurotransmitter that is an agonist for the gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR). GRP has been reported to activate GABAergic interneurons in the amygdala leading to increased GABA release and fear suppression in mice
RC-3095 acetate is an antagonist of bombesin/gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR). It exerts protective effects by reducing gastric oxidative injury in the arthritic mice.
